If you are looking to open a new travel agency, there are a couple of areas of which you must research before you consider joining a travel franchise group.

The Two main areas to consider are briefly outlined below.

• To operate a travel agency in Australia you are required to have Certification from the Travel Compensation Fund (TCF) . For more information please refer to the TCF website-www.tcf.org.au
• Every travel agency must have a licensed travel agent responsible for trading. To obtain a travel agents licence, there are a number of criteria, of which you can find out details by contacting the Department of Fair Trading in your state.
