Thailand Activities

There are so many wonderful events and activities to make your visit to Thailand special.

Festival Mania

Everyone is invited to join in on Festival Mania in Thailand.

Songkran Festival

The Songkran Water Festival, held throughout Thailand in mid-April to celebrate Thai New Year, is the biggest water fight in the world. The water throwing symbolises blessing and purification and symbolises new beginnings. It also offers relief from the sultry April weather. Held throughout Thailand, Songkran is especially well known and celebrated at Chiang Mai.

Loy Krathong Festival

Honor the Thai Goddess of Water in a more languid way with a beautiful floating candle ceremony. Loy Krathong falls on the full moon in November and is celebrated anywhere from Chiang Mai to Bangkok. Be sure to check out some of the best festivities at Chiang Mai and Ayutthaya.

Culinary Delights

Indulge in a Thai cooking lesson for half a day – this way you will be able to recreate some of your holiday when you return home. The Baipai Thai Cooking School in Bangkok offers classes in a home-style environment and is a relaxing way to wind up your holiday.

Become a History Buff

It doesn’t sound like much of a holiday, visiting Hellfire Pass and the Burma-Siam Death Railway. But for 20th century history aficionados, a visit to the western province of Kanchanaburi is an absolute must. Trains from Bangkok will get you to the Bridge over the River Kwai and the museum at Hellfire Pass.

Stay on a bamboo jungle raft or floating house in the heart of the forest, where accommodation becomes a sight in itself. Before you go, drop in to the Tiger Temple and sit side by side with friendly tigers looked after by the monks.

Shop till You Drop

Bangkok is considered one of the best places in the world to shop. From the bustling street markets, to the sleek and glossy shopping centres, each day is a different retail experience. If you like to barter for your bargains, we recommend Chatuchak Weekend Market and Suan Lum Night Bazaar. The many modern shopping centres will keep you on your toes.

Some of the best are Central World for lifestyle shopping and Siam Paragon, one of the biggest shopping centres in Asia. Siam Paragon has everything from restaurants, to luxury brands like Gucci, Chanel, Hermès, Giorgio Armani, Jimmy Choo, Chloè, Dolce & Gabbana and many more. You can even find a Kinokuniya book store! For a refreshing experience you can’t go past the 8 storey Mah Boon Krong (MBK) Centre. With over 2,000 stores, a trip to Mah Boon Krong is a great way to spend some loose baht change.
